Description:
Meril Filasilk is a non-absorbable, sterile, braided surgical suture composed of natural silk protein derived from the Bombyx mori silkworm. It is processed through a proprietary degumming and coating technique to enhance pliability, minimize capillarity, and ensure smooth tissue passage. Designed for general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, Filasilk is suitable for cardiovascular, ophthalmic, and neurological procedures requiring extended wound support. Though non-absorbable, it gradually loses tensile strength over time while maintaining effective wound closure during healing.
Key Features:
-
Material: Natural silk, processed to reduce inflammatory response.
-
Structure: Braided multifilament for excellent knot security and handling.
-
Coating: Wax or silicone-coated to reduce capillarity and enhance smoothness.
-
Tensile Strength: High initial strength with gradual loss; not absorbed.
-
Biocompatibility: Predictable moderate tissue response due to natural origin.
