Chromic treatment extends absorption to approximately 90–120 days while retaining about 50% tensile strength at 7–10 days, supporting tissue closure during early healing. The strand is polished to uniform diameter and soaked in isopropyl alcohol for flexibility, smooth passage, and consistent handling. Ethylene-oxide sterilization ensures a five-year shelf life. Trugut induces minimal tissue reaction, is biologically inert, and is ideal for general soft tissue approximation and ligation in rapidly healing tissues.
